Chosen in 2016 as preferred furniture suppliers (tier 1) to the colossal EDF Hinkley Point C construction project, TCi (GB) Ltd has taken the opportunity to deliver first-class service and a catalogue of high-standard products on a new scale.
As just one of hundreds of contractors operating on the project, close working and good communication has been essential to achieve the many interdependent functions. An ethos of collaborative working was emphasised from the start of the tendering process, and is at the core of every part of TCi’s delivery.
A key focus and early milestone project was the fit-out of the HPC Induction Centre, based at the Somerset Energy & Innovation Centre (SEIC) in Bridgwater. Knowing that the environment created will give the very first impression to all personnel involved in the project; it was essential that this demonstrated its ‘World Class’ status and reflected the values and standards of HPC.
TCi provided a full refurbishment service, beyond the scope of the main contract, adding value and continuity. As part of this arrangement, M&E, decorating and kitchen facilities were installed into what was then an unfinished building. Working on a tight schedule, the furniture installation was completed extremely quickly through careful integration and collaboration between suppliers and TCi furniture WORKS installation teams.
It was important to specify high-end, modern facilities from top quality designers and manufacturers, with emphasis on good space planning to make the most of the environment. A proactive vision helped shape the building design to ensure that use of space was optimised and flexible. TCi (GB) Ltd ensured that all selected specific items of FF&E were not only practical and suitable for function, but the selection of materials and colours provided a professional and vibrant environment. Examples include the provision of stackable meeting tables and a trackless glass partition system to create a multifunctional large space this took a considerable amount of collaboration across many suppliers, frequently with extremely long lead times.
